SDGA Latest Rules
SOUTHPORT & DISTRICT GOLF ASSOCIATION RULES
As drawn up in 1972: revised in 1977, 1994, 2000 and 2008
1 The name will be:
“THE SOUTHPORT & DISTRICT GOLF ASSOCIATION”
2 The conduct of the Association shall be decided by the Annual Meeting of the Association Executive.
3 This Executive Council will meet as often as circumstances demand:
– This Executive Council has the power to co-opt members up to four in number
– Executive Members to be drawn from Member Clubs
– A Quorum will consist of four Executive members
4 Except as ruled otherwise by the Executive AGM, the Association’s teams will be composed of players from golf clubs within the Southport and District catchment area.
5 Each member club is invited to enter teams to play in Association events at all levels of the game. The number of players in each team is to be agreed at each respective section AGM and to take immediate effect.
6 Format to each section event to be agreed at section AGM.
7 Order of play:-
- Winter season to run from October to April
- Summer season to run from April to September
- Order of play to be at discretion of the Team Captain. Home club to publish order of play to visiting team.
- Points awarded on basis decided at section AGM.
- Fixtures may only be re-arranged owing to inclement weather or fixture congestion.
- Winter golf means playing on temporary greens if necessary. Matches are expected to be played if the home course is open.
- All disputes to be referred to the respective Section
- Order of play means what it says, if No. 1 team has not turned up then that is one point lost.
- The respective section fixture lists allow for a degree of flexibility of dates for each match and must be adhered to unless previously agreed by the Section
- With the prior approval of the Section Secretary, a match venue may be changed should course improvement works or major tournament preparation etc render reasonable playing conditions difficult, or impossible.
DISREGARD OF (v) ABOVE MAY INVOKE A PENALTY PROCEDURE
8 All matches and events under the jurisdiction of the Association to be played within the Rules of Golf, as applied by the R&A. Local Rules applied by member clubs must be adhered to. Any other Local Rules specific to the Association, will be applied whenever appropriate.
9 Team Captain to inform the respective Section Secretary of match results on the evening of the match or within 24 hours.
10 Team Captains to be responsible for the good conduct of their team during the duration of an event/match.
